Medicare Contractors Combine

Effective Jan. 1, 2007, five Medicare carriers combined to form one organization, including operational and financial resources and local coverage determinations (LCDs) for their covered states. The companies are: AdminaStar Federal, Associated Hospital Service, Anthem Health Plans of New Hampshire Inc., Empire Medical Services and United Government Services.
The new organization now operates under the name of National Government Services.
The company will serve as Medicare Part A Fiscal Intermediary for: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the U.S. Territories of American Samoa, Guam and Northern Mariana Islands.
In addition, it will serve as Medicare Part B carrier for: Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey and New York.
