2019 Program Committee

Mission Statement
The Program Committee is responsible for developing and conducting the Annual Meeting.

Goals:

  • Contribute conceptual suggestions about general sessions topics, determine content for general sessions, and recommend/recruit general session speakers
    • Solicit featured speakers (i.e. plenary speakers, panel discussions, etc.)
  • Manage the Call for Workshops (contributed sessions). Abstracts will be accepted for the following tracks:
    • Technical/Clinical/Ancillary Services
    • Business & Leadership
    • Coding & Reimbursement
    • Quality & Safety
    • Nursing
  • Extend the reach of the Annual Meeting using technology
  • Design the Annual Meeting to be relevant for changing responsibilities facing radiation oncology management
  • Plan social functions associated with the Annual Meeting

Newsletter Editorial Board

Mission Statement

The SROA Editorial Board is responsible for the oversight, creation, development and distribution of the SROA Newsletter, e-Boosts, and the SROA blog. Our mission is to collect, process, review and disseminate information that is appropriate and of interest to the members of the SROA.

Goals:

  • To further enhance the communication between vendors, members, and writers in the field of radiation oncology for the benefit of the Society as a whole and the people that SROA’s members serve.
  • To ensure SROA’s members receive quality, relevant content that meets high editorial standards
  • To keep the membership apprised of activities and initiatives undertaken by SROA’s committees by communicating
  • To provide well-researched, quality content (newsletter articles and briefs) that will provide members with information about developments in the field
  • To disseminate “breaking news” to members promptly
  • To serve as an information resource for members
  • To encourage members to write content for the newsletter and respond to all related inquires in a timely manner.

Deliverables:

  • Produce four (4) quarterly newsletters including the annual billing and coding edition published in print and online
  • Create and disseminate eBoosts to inform members of relevant and urgent news, as needed
  • Write and publish timely news briefs on SROA’s website
  • Conduct monthly meetings to review and discuss issues and to develop ideas for newsletter articles

Mentor Program Working Group

Mission Statement
The SROA Mentoring Program provides membership value to new and existing members, the program serves as a knowledge based resource and allows for members to learn from each other; to prepare Radiation Oncology administrative succession. The program is designed as a short-term relationship not to exceed one year. The meeting schedule is to be set by the Mentor and Mentee with goals established up front.

A Mentor is:

  • Any member willing to participate in the program
  • May be an "expert" in one area or several areas
  • Can schedule quality time to assist the Mentee

A Mentee is:

  • Any member wishing to receive assistance with Radiation Oncology specific issues
  • May be new to the field or have many years of experience
  • Willing to receive constructive advice from your Mentor

Goals:

  • Communicate the benefits of the SROA Mentorship program with current members and potential new members
  • Promote the value of the Mentorship program in SROA
  • Develop new and innovative ways to attract new members as well as retain current Mentors.
  • Collaborate with other SROA groups to provide educational opportunities to the Mentorship Program
  • Develop leadership skills of members and encourage member networking to enhance professional participation through the Mentorship Program

Deliverables:

  • Develop and maintain an active Mentorship program
  • Develop a marketing strategy and tactics as an outreach with other groups to seek new member participation
  • Identify potential new sources for members to the Mentorship Program
  • Host the New Member/First Timer/Mentor-Mentee Reception at the annual meeting

External Collaborations Working Group

Goals:

  1. Facilitate the exchange of information among key professional societies and associations with SROA.
  2. Determine value added for each external collaboration to the SROA membership understanding SROA’s value to external relationships is the knowledge and expertise of its members.
  3. Create pathways between SROA, its membership and outside organizations that also support the industry.

A Special Interest Group is a way for SROA members to explore, share practices, and exchange knowledge around a common interest in topical issues and common challenges by providing the opportunity for members to compare experiences and possibly identify future activities to benefit all SROA members. Payer trends interest group provides the opportunity for members to connect monthly for discussion of current payer trends and reimbursement concerns for radiation oncology.

Goals:

  1. Share administrative resources relevant to payer trends
  2. Membership networking for shared knowledge of payer trends
  3. Horizon scanning for payer trends and developments

EHR/Epic Forum

Mission:
To increase and diffuse knowledge of best practices using Aria/Mosaiq with Epic

Goals:

  1. Promote awareness of the current options that Epic has when used with Aria/Mosaiq
  2. Begin to develop a network of Administrators using Epic with Aria/Mosiaq
  3. Begin to develop resources that assist with implementation of Epic with Aria/Mosaiq

Mission Statement
Advance radiation oncology nursing knowledge and support

Goals:

  1. Offer a platform for radiation oncology nurses to discuss matters of professional interest
  2. Support radiation oncology nurses in navigating challenges in caring for radiotherapy patients
  3. Develop evidence-based practice templates and tools to support the field and drive consistency of practice
